Nick Boldt commented on JBIDE-11713:
------------------------------------

For all the rabid "do everything with Maven" I've been seeing lately, I'm surprised to see bash here.

Why not use Maven/Tycho to run p2.director?

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Tycho/Additional_Tools

{code}
<groupId>org.eclipse.tycho.extras</groupId>
      <artifactId>tycho-eclipserun-plugin</artifactId>
      <version>0.14.0</version>
        ...
{code}

If you then run Maven under a different UI thread, you solve the need to have (or not have) UI involved in the process. Whether it's SWTBot run w/ surefire, or using the eclipserun-plugin to do the install, would not a Maven solution be better than being tied to Bash, and losing out on Windows platform install testing?

> We should set up some automated tests and jobs to verify ability to install/update/... from the repo we produce.
