There are two issues:

- the javaee6-webapp-archetype archetype (https://github.com/jbossas/archetypes/tree/master/jboss-javaee6-webapp-archetype) contains README.md which is not included in the project.
I have created a pull request: https://github.com/jbossas/archetypes/pull/19

- the project-examples-shared-3.3.CR1.xml and project-examples-shared-3.3.Beta3.xml were unnecessarily including the welcome tag. Fixed in the trunk.
