Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBIDE-11192:
---------------------------------------------

one possible caveat is that the caching is done per workspace.

so if you start a new workspace you will have copy of the mvn artifacts, but not of the descriptors used by central/project examples.

> Many end-users of JBoss Tools wish to work "offline", something as simple as working on a plane trip without a wifi connection. If the end-user has diligently cached all of his maven dependencies then he should be able to work without a network connection.
> Use case scenarios include:
> a- JBoss Central archetypes
> b- JBoss Perspective File-New project options (matching the key archetypes)
> c- jboss-as-plugin for command-line deployment of a project to the running AS instance
> d- Deployment via WTP to localhost AS/EAP instance
> e- Maven clean, compile, package
> f- community & enterprise quickstarts are provided as a .zip, therefore the end-user could have them pre-downloaded and that list could look to local disk prior to the Internet
> g- JBoss Central News & Blogs could have a more attractive solution to being offline (screenshot provided)
> h- Archetypes that use CDN hosted libraries (e.g. HTML5 & jQuery) could provide an alternative or at least instruction on how to fetch the files and load them locally
