Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBIDE-12015:
---------------------------------------------
it has nothing to do with the *installation of Git*. Of course it has to do with Git - its your git projects basically.
Why does it default to ~/git ? Ask the egit guys, it is the default output directory for git based projects in eclipse. You can set it to what you want under eclipse preferences Team>Git>Default repository folder.
~/projects is just as wrong/confusing since then we would have to introduce yet another preference for "default location of projects" which would only be listened to by our wizard - egit wizards would still use ~/git and new native eclipse projects would still use <workspace> as the default location.
Don't think it would be better we add more to the confusion would it ?
We can add the label warning about it not should go into your workspace if that helps?

> The Cloning Settings: Use default location - suggests that the end-user needs to put in his Git location - users have been trying to use "C:\Program Files (x86)\Git" and that causes some other errors. This is also not the end-user's project directory. We should find a way to better explain what is being asked for here.
