There is a similar issue that talks about this exact dialog being rather "correct, but misleading".

What I've suggested before is to simply use the egit commit/review dialog which shows the actual changes
or at least perform what corresponds to a git diff openshiftremote master which in git is a completely local operation
and can give us info about what changed since the last push.
