Hi, 

I just tried to reproduce the issue on a pair of local MacOSX machines : my laptop running Eclipse and my desktop having EAP 5.1.2 installed, accessible via SSH.
Once EAP remote server was properly configured in Eclipse, I could start the server remotely and browse with MBean Explorer

Using default config, eap 5.1.2 on both machines, web port pollers
Desktop IP: 192.168.0.10
Laptop IP: 192.168.0.12 

Let me know if you need more information on the settings/conf I used.
