Yes. You click a connector. It searches the single URL for the listed IUs, which are all FEATURES. Then it presents the provisioning plan (list of feature.groups to install) and you install them.

Features only. 

That said, I fail to see your issue here. Which single plugin do you feel we should be installing instead of the features that surround them? What was wrong with my PR/patch? Can you explain?
