Does this occur in both JBT and JBDS? If so, big problem. If not, then it might just be a missing dep problem not properly stated in JBT OpenShift plugin/feature, but which is hidden in JBDS because we include (and preinstall) more m2e stuff.

Good news is the SR1a and SR0c target platforms include this plugin:

org.eclipse.m2e.lifecyclemapping.defaults_1.2.0.20120903-1050.jar

So all we need to do is ensure that if you need it installed as part of OpenShift, your features/plugins state the need in your manifest.mf / feature.xml.
