Vlado Pakan commented on JBDS-2274:
-----------------------------------

Either the tests will be automated there has to be done work to automate them and also to maintain them. Not supporting it we can save some time without lowering usability of JBT.

In case we have only Central it's less work for QA and all update sites used by Central are already tested automatically via automated testing of installation from Central.

Advanced users can use installation from Central but we would not guarantee it will work for 100%.

If we need to test all sites from extras it doesn't make sense to remove extras from JBDS at least not for QE.

> Discussion has started regarding the removal of the Extras site URL from JBDS OOTB, so as to encourage users to get their 3rd party bits via Central instead of using the old p2 UI approach.
> This would ensure:
> a) a cleaner UI experience
> b) controlled access to specific groupings of functionality (Central connectors) instead of users being able to pick&choose any feature they want (and therefore get an incomplete experience)
> Note that advanced users can still add the Central site or the Extras site once again be able to cherry-pick what they want to install. This just obfuscates it a little.
