I wonder if we shouldn't simply drop the drop the ability to edit the filename for the public key. Eclipse SSH2 prererences dont offer this: they simply offer a filedialog to choose the file for the private key. The public key would get the very same filename + the suffix ".pub". I also saw JSch (SSH2 java lib used in Eclipse) using a hardcoded <private-key-filename> + ".pub" pattern. 
To still tell the user explicitly about the filename for the public key we'd keep the text-field but disable it.
