There is a kind of web sites which forward you to different URLs depending on your User-Agent.
If your User Agent is a mobile device, such web site may forward you from example.com to example.com/mobile. After such forward the site does not look at your User Agent, it just show you mobile version. The only way to get desktop version is to reenter site URL in the location bar.

[~dgolovin]: I guess you faced the case described above. However I cannot reproduce it on my workstation.
