I found that issue, while testing the following project [https://github.com/jasond/cordova-mega-demo.git] on CordovaSim. However, after some debugging I detected the cause in 
[https://github.com/jasond/cordova-mega-demo/blob/master/cordova-mega-demo/assets/www/js/demo.js#L372]. So, the link */android_asset/www/media/midnight-ride.mp3* is android based, and can't be processed correctly. What's more there's no possible way to get the root folder of the hybrid app, only weird hacks [http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11175489/ios-phonegap-media-object-how-do-i-access-a-resource-in-the-www-folder]. If change the link from the example to the valid one (http://www.w3schools.com/html/horse.mp3), everything works like a charm.
