I now understand that you mean something closer to p2 version comparator: http://aniefer.blogspot.fr/2009/08/versioning-p2-slides-from-eclipsecon.html . It seems interesting, I'll make some tests locally to see what kind of reports we get, and to see how it compares with what [~jpeterka] did. I also reported that to Tycho for an easier automation and integration https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=401162
