yes, it solved it, great, thanks!
I did a "mvn clean install" in my plugins and pointed a vanilla Juno-SR1 to the freshly build repo (while adding the JBT nightlies updates site).
Tracing for the OpenShift client then became available in the preferences:

and once the flag were set to *true*, tracing output was produced:
