There are two separate issues here so I have created TOOLSDOC-296 for the Sun/Oracle bug.

The alternatives issues will be looked at for the next release the GSG (for 4.1.0/7.0.0).

The Sun/Oracle bug should be fixed asap in the existing GSG for 4.0.0/6.0.0.
