The fact that you can't build unified is not necessary a big issue. Once you "mvn clean install"ed multiple, you can give a try to it to build locus using "mvn clean verify -P multiple" at the root of the repo.
If it works, it's worth a PR.

Is you code committed to your repo so I can give it a try?
