Try Eclipse 4.3.0.Final (Kepler R). Recommend the JavaEE bundle, as stated here [1]. Should work w/ earlier versions too, but that's the officially supported one.

Can you provide more info? Are you on Win/Mac/Linux? 32- or 64-bit? JDK version? Existing workspace or fresh (unused) one? Using paths with spaces in them, or not? Using long paths or short ones (really only a problem on Windows) ? Any logged errors in the console or Errors view?
