Try Eclipse 4.3.0.Final (Kepler R). Recommend the JavaEE bundle, as stated here [1]. Should work w/ earlier versions too, but that's the officially supported one.

Can you provide more info? JDK version? 

Here's the list of OSes that are supported by JBT 4.1: https://community.jboss.org/wiki/MatrixOfSupportedPlatformsRuntimesAndTechnologiesInJBossToolsJBDS - WinXP is not on the list. Can you use Win7 instead?

Existing workspace or fresh (unused) one? Using paths with spaces in them, or not? Using long paths or short ones (really only a problem on Windows) ? Any logged errors in the console or Errors view?

Can you upgrade to Forge 1.3.3? Which version of Maven 3.0.x or 3.1 are you using?
