@Stefan: this can be reproduced even simpler, without chaning the "Save password". Simply open the connection dialog and confirm what's there. This issue was about creating a NEWS/ADDITIONAL connection with the very same setting causing the existing connection to become <not connected>. Your steps above are about editing an EXISTING connection. I verified the steps found in the description and I cannot reproduce this. I'll thus resolve this issue again and file the new bug to a new jira issue: JBIDE-14771
