Can I ask why it's bad that something that we provide on devstudio.jboss.com is included in the installer jar too? We aren't violating the license terms, so is the issue simply that the jar is bigger than it needs to be, as it contains optional stuff that users might not need?

As to the possible solutions here, if we include o.j.t.m.gwt, we also need to include c.google.gwt because otherwise the update site won't build w/ tycho. Therefore we either need to exclude o.j.t.m.gwt from the JBDS update site (and move it to Central/Extras) or else continue to include BOTH o.j.t.m.gwt and the GWT stuff on which it depends.

As to the question of "can JBDS point to the JBT update site?" the answer is unequivocally NO. Product cannot refer to project, because someone Higher Up has deemed that to be a Very Bad Idea, akin to crossing the streams [1].
