https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/JBoss_Developer_Studio/ hosts the docs from 6.0.x and before, to which the name change does not apply

I am not suggesting using both URLs on the JBoss Central page. The Red_Hat link should be used from JBDS 7.0 forwards as this is where the 7.0 and future docs are.

The way the JBDS name change has been implemented is the same implementation as when JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform changed it's name to JBoss Portal Platform earlier this year. It has two docs sites, one for before the name change and one for after.

JBDS is the first middleware product with established docs to change to the Red Hat name. All of the other middleware products will be making the same docs website implementation as they change their name over the next year.

Fuse Source and A-MQ are not good examples. These are newer acquisitions and the name change in these products' docs appears to be a patch as the docs still need work to make them Red Hat consistent.
