I suppose if build fails, it's not horrible to leave it as-is.  The feature may be installed by all, but, the feature will be empty (?) since the plugin itself has linux / gtk requirements.  You can see this in the feature.xml. 

We definitely need mistria / nboldt / paul to help confirm this stuff.
