+1 to all the above changes (haven't tested a build locally yet but description sounds good). 

BTW, create.results.html is called three times as part of a JBDS build here (same ant task code, different templates/output):

So once there's a mojo for that, will we be able to call it independently of all the other mojos, just to generate 3 html files?

As to the inclusion of site.xml or category.xml ... yes, it's non-functional, but it's a handy way to see what's in the site w/o having to unpack content.jar or load the site up in p2 install manager or other repo browser. IMHO it's useful from a debugging / quick content review POV. Can it be included as part of additionalWebResources?
