Here, without really dropping content, but reducing the project links to 2 columns and grouping the sample categories in 1 column, reacting to mouse hover to display the samples on the adjacent column : http://screencast.com/t/LjWWO1SvLhf

There are still a few UI bugs but WDYT of that idea? In the screencast, central min width before looking bad is 615px. In current JBT Alpha2, min width is 960px. Below that an horizontal scrollbar appears.
