To explore a couple of upgrade scenarios, involving users who already have GPE 3.2 for Eclipse 4.2 installed...

1. install JBDS from Beta1 B441
2. Window > Prefs > Update > Avail Sites > http://www.qa.jboss.com/binaries/RHDS/builds/staging/devstudio.product_71/all/repo/
3. Help > Check for updates
4. update to JBoss Developer Studio (Branded Product) 7.1.0.CR1-v20131114-2143-B534

Should now see this in jbdevstudio.ini:

-Djboss.discovery.directory.url=https://devstudio.jboss.com/updates/7.0-development/devstudio-directory.xml

5. Install GWT e42 connectors from Central

6. Help > Check for updates

!JBDS2801_install_GWT32e42_from_Central_Beta1_site_JBDS_CR1_check_for_updates_no_GPE.png!

7. On restart, you will see that the WindowBuilder and GWT Designer have been updated to the r43 version, but the Google Plugin for *Eclipse 4.2* is still installed - it has not been updated to the Eclipse 4.3 (e43) version.

!JBDS2801_install_GWT32e42_from_Central_Beta1_site_JBDS_CR1_check_for_updates_no_GPE_installed_view.png!

8. Help > Install > http://www.qa.jboss.com/binaries/RHDS/discovery/nightly/core/4.1.kepler/ > uncheck "group items by category" > Google Plugin For Eclipse 4.3 > Install.

9. Remediation is presented:

10. on restart, GPE e43 is installed.

{code}Google Plugin for Eclipse 4.3 3.4.2.v201310081834-rel-r43 com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.e43.feature.feature.group  Google, Inc.{code}

----

1. install eclipse-jee-kepler-SR1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz, using fresh workspace
2. Help > Install > http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/kepler/ > Central Community feature > install > restart.
3. install GWT e42 connectors from Central

!JBDS2801_install_GWT32e42_from_Central_Beta1_site_JBT_CR1.png!

4. Check for updates, install anything found.

5. Help > Install > http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/discovery/nightly/core/4.1.kepler/ > uncheck "group items by category" > Google Plugin For Eclipse 4.3 > Install.

6. Or, you can select two features to install and be able to upgrade to a newer Maven GWT Configator at the same time as upgrading to GPE 3.4.2 e43:

> If we decide to move to e43, we will have to rebuild jbosstools-central due to this requirement:
> {code:title=https://github.com/jbosstools/jbosstools-central/blob/jbosstools-4.1.x/maven/features/org.jboss.tools.maven.gwt.feature/feature.xml#L24}

> {code}
