If Forge 2 requires Maven 3.1 ...even when used by the user - then that is going to be a blocker aren't it ? At least some dependencies or other setup would be needed since I don't believe JBDS 7 bundled m2e with a 3.1 embedded.

[~fbricon] and [~koen.aers] what is the status of that ?
