Sorry, Rob, but then I have no other option but to ask: Why don't we show any console output when the server is actually remote?
This jira is about rse on localhost - that works, so I'm closing this jira. But this is an unlikely use case - more likely use case is to have rse connection on a remote machine. And in such case no console output is shown - I've created JBIDE-16989 .

This JIRA can be closed though. Verified in JBDS 8.0.0.Beta1a B82
