was a wrong link - meant https://github.com/jbdevstudio/jbdevstudio-product/blob/master/plugins/com.jboss.devstudio.core/plugin_customization.ini#L86 which states:

# ASTools initial server type
org.jboss.ide.eclipse.as.ui/DEFAULT_SERVER_TYPE=org.jboss.ide.eclipse.as.eap.60

thus just a case of updating the defaults.
