Slowness in general will be fixed as part of JBIDE-16375.
The point was that filters did re-instantiating the UI components, which since JBIDE-16592 do re-resolve IU version and have become a slow operation. This components, instead of being recomputed, are now just hidden, using GridData.exclude=true and Composite.setVisible(false).
