Althought the solution in the PR works fine on the website, it's not suitable for Github because the custom extension is not supported, which means that the images don't appear on the rendered page.

We'll need to find another solution, maybe based on JS that will massage the HTML document to wrap images with anchors and insert the DIV elements that display the modal dialogs.
