About sf.net: I have the impression it would be clearer to deal with sf.net AFTER the sites are at their definitive location (under tools/build/stable). Those URLs are more explicit and less subject to change the the current ones.
Also, sf.net is somehow secondary and less critical that managing update-sites, so it makes the release process start directly by the most important part, which can be a good thing if we can't finish it in time: at least, the promotion part is done.
In such case, it could be performed in parallel with marketplace update / website preparation / Git tagging.
