[~kpiwko] no, as any good IDE or tool JBDS supports multiple versions of your runtimes. If you want you can even be targeting Java 1.0 if you wanted to ;) 

Likewise you can even use Java 8 even we only tested with Java 7.

JBDS 7.x needs to work on Java 6+, but JBDS 8 is going towards being okey with plugins using Java 7 - the last known issue here is to find out what to do with the visual page editor which will stop working on OSX because there is only a 64-bit Java7 and xulrunner needs 32-bit ;/
