I've checked the entire m2e codebase : it only changes the TCCL in one place : http://git.eclipse.org/c/m2e/m2e-core.git/tree/org.eclipse.m2e.core/src/org/eclipse/m2e/core/embedder/MavenModelManager.java#n209, and restores the original in the following finally block (http://git.eclipse.org/c/m2e/m2e-core.git/tree/org.eclipse.m2e.core/src/org/eclipse/m2e/core/embedder/MavenModelManager.java#n262)

m2e-apt has one occurrence of the exact same pattern.
