This is how the overhauled application wizard looks like:

1) choose to import an existing application or create a new one:

!create-new-or-import-existing.png!

2) if you create a new one, you may pick among predefined cartridges (the usual suspects: jbossas-7, jbossews-2, php-5.4 etc.) or choose to use your own cartridge ("Code Anything"):

3) If you create a new application you get to a 2nd page where you can provide name, gear etc. and add additional cartridges (add-on or embedded cartridges). You get to choose among predefined cartridges (mysql-5.1, postgres-8.4, etc) or provide your own cartridge ("Code Anything").
Note: This 2nd wizard page is not shown if you import an existing application.

4) Once you're done with adding cartridges, they're listed in your page:

5) If you choose to import an existing application, you may choose it by hitting "Browse" and pick it in the tree within the upcoming dialog that lists all domains and all applications:

> OpenShift allows lately to provide your very own cartridge by giving it a git-url where the cartridge source may get cloned from. In the Web-UI this looks as follows:
> !add-downloadable-cartridge.png!
