I can't reproduce the error, but obviously, the helloworld-ejb/pom.xml maven-ejb-plugin config is wrong, it should be :

   <artifactId>maven-ejb-plugin</artifactId>
   <version>2.3</version>
   <configuration>
     <ejbVersion>3.0</ejbVersion>
   </configuration>
