This seems to be working nicely now.

Even if I force the installer to run with the JRE it suggests to use jdk 1.7:
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_60.jdk/Contents/Home

Verified in JBDS 8.0.0.CR1 B246
