Guys, I know this issue is a bit older, but can someone point me in the right direction as to how to verify this? [~rhopp] is on vacation and we'd like to clean the issues up. 

What I've done is pretty much what Radim described above. The "Support software installation" only makes a difference when I try to install an early access plugin, where it fails with disabled. From the discussion it seems to me there should an error logged instead of a modal dialog when firing up early access when the installation support is unchecked, right?
Tried with 4.3.0.Alpha2, no error dialog nor error log entry about this. In 4.3.0.Beta2, it simply let me install everything anyway.

So, is this even relevant anymore?
