1. it's not a custom repo, it's the repo into which Javaee publishes its snapshots. This allows the tests to be run from within one job, without first having to BUILD its plugins, features, and update site. With this optional profile, you can simply build+run the jsf tests from the jst/tests/pom.xml, resolving all the upstream deps from the jbosstools-javaee-site URL (which is defined in the parent pom).
If we wanted to, we could move this profile to the root pom of jbosstools-javaee, but it's really only needed for running tests, not for building pieces of javaee.
2. can't define this in parent pom unless you plan to have 16 of these profiles there -- one per jbosstools-* project. Or we could have a profile that includes ALL the projects' jbosstools-*-site repositories, but that seems overkill.
3. we already require build output before running tests. we have done this for a couple years now, because often tests fail for no good reason, and having test failures blocking publishing to snapshots/ made things way less agile than they are now.
4. where would you put this locally installed eclipse such that it could be shared across Jenkins workspaces? how would you guarantee that tests that ran for >45 mins would not be impacted by a fresh upstream build that was kicked off during that test run?
