-------------------------------------------------------------

Right, having Seam 3 support installed by default doesn't make much sense. I vote to remove it from the installer/BOYE feature as well. But keep it on the main update site.

As for the reason why Seam 2 ends up in the installer, it's because of the portlet.feature and portlet.core dependencies, as highlighted by Nick. It's not a hard dependency, we should just make sure PortletPostInstallListener behaves nicely if the seam Facet is missing. And then just remove the Seam dependency in the feature.

Which bring me to another question : are portlets still a thing? should portlets tools get the Seam treatment as well?

> For JBoss Tools, both are there (seam and cdi.seam) - I'm not sure if that's intentional. Is there a JIRA for dropping seam?
