I've made a PR in order to cherry-pick the changes required for backporting the "Tern async tern server requests"  into Tern.java 0.8.x branches:  
[~azerr] Could you please review it: https://github.com/angelozerr/tern.java/pull/254

If applied this will allow us to get Tern-java v.0.8.2 with the 'deadlock' issue fixed in it.
I'm not sure but it looks like a new build of AngularJS-eclipse (0.8.2) should be released in order to include Tern.java v.0.8.2
