The actual docs that are more end-user focused are:  https://docs.openshift.org/latest/architecture/core_concepts/routes.html   I think the issue here is the router may not be configured properly. This line https://github.com/jboss-openshift/application-templates/blob/master/eap/eap6-basic-sti.json#L26  talks about the ramifications of leaving it blank, but it would be nice to have some similiar comment in the docs some place.  It would be interesting to know in what environment this issue was seen so we can determine if its a staging issue or a local issue.
