I guess we have two options then - we could either hard code the ones we want on the front page, or we could ask the .org team to include some extra tag/metadata for central so you can just pull and display a few items based on tags associated with the quickstart itself.  Open to other ideas, and probably is worth a quick discussion with [~pmuir].
