When you have no v2 installed, the connection wizard is now preselecting v3 as server type. Nevertheless the authentication form is still not show since there's no server url present yet. The server url field is thus decorated with a "*" and an appropriate info is shown in the title are of the connection wizard:

Once you entered the server url, the decorations disappear and the authentication form appears.
Maybe we should change this to show an authentication form as soon as there's a server type selected, that would be far more intuitive I think. I filed a jira for this: JBIDE-19521
