Here's rest of the feedback.
Procedure 1:
Step 4c I dont like word "Ensure". For me this seems like the version must be 0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.

Procedure 2:
step 4b unique version isnt required. Even if you create project which has the same version defined as its parent it is not an error, just something that is not needed to be defined again. 

And the last thing - you are using "Project Explorer tab". It should be "Project Explorer view" IMHO.
