The issue is probably related to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=431425.
I can't reproduce it on GTK 3.10, 3.12, 3.14, 3.16 and 3.18.
I have created a patch similar to the patch in https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-16877, but haven't tested it because I haven't succeeded to reproduce the issue.
