This change would affect all vpe tests - jsf / jsp engine does not work against GTK 3 due to the fact that required xulrunner is compiled only aginst gtk2 (gtk3 is supported only by vpv / html preview engine - those tests should work fine). Basically, all vpe tests would be simply skipped on Linux. One can test it by setting SWT_GTK3 =1 in tests/pom.xml
