Well, we can't disable it entirely. Users may still want to customize certain aspects or add new other environment variables which I don't override.  

I realize this is a recurring error in expectations, but the other option is to give users full control over the launch configuration, and then we get errors where users change their password in the credentials preference page and the launch won't update to the new ones.  

The best we can really do here is post a warning that changes to certain fields will not take effect.
