I can confirm that the error is now better and hopefully a desperate user will be able to make sense of it. But unfortunately it won't work even if you do have a local runtime. So I created another JIRA for that: JBIDE-23130
And there is still an open JIRA for remote+management: JBIDE-20108

So basically I haven't managed to get a remote jmx connection to work in any form whatsoever in a long time now.

But at least this JIRA can be closed now.
