We use plugin customization. For more reference see http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/platform-core/documents/user_settings/plugin_customization.html. In our plugin customization we turn off/set up some stuff to make environment more stable. E.g. turning of some notifications which could break tests etc. Its crucial for test execution and it does not have negative side effect on test results - test environment is the one we want.
