Specifically, why did you run as root? What user did you use to push changes to JIRA? yours? or the jiralint user? (This worked when tested on issues.stage.jboss.org, so trying to figure out what you did differently.)

But those JIRAs are not initially assigned to a user, so the user of the scripts (createnewandnotworthy,....) must update all the created JIRAs.
